Site Safety Review

This project needed a “GO” from the base commander so HNEI engaged Boyd Hydrogen, LLC to develop a site safety review to consider all of the potential safety scenarios specific to a military base.

These scenarios are not common place in the general public and take special consideration and potentially risk mitigation techniques. Some example scenarios that were considered are:

  1. What if a helicopter crashed into the hydrogen station?

    1. That would result in a mess, but no big deal.

  2. What if a helicopter comes in with weapons hot and fires into the hydrogen fueling station?

    1. That too would result in a mess, but no big deal.

This project was developed before the concept of Hydrogen Equipment enclosures (HEEs) were defined in the 2016 revision of NFPA-2.
